NDC members recorded me secretly and sold the audio to NPP — Ofosu-Ampofo laments

Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), said that some people in the party want to bring shame on him as the leader.

He has complained about how members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) secretly recorded him in a closed-door meeting and then sold the recording to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) so that he could be prosecuted. He has also said that he has been to court 70 times.

He said that members of the NDC are behind the leak of his audio tape, which is the reason he is on trial right now.

In an interview with Adom TV, the head of the NDC said that the leaked audio shows how cruel the NDC can be when they want to hurt one of their own.

Even though he didn’t name names, he said that some people in the NDC had called him anti-Mahama.

He said “When the NDC wants to make someone look bad, they first call them “anti-Mahama.” People from my own party recorded me at a meeting with the party and the people, then gave the recording to the NPP. This is why I’m on trial. Seventy times, I’ve been to court.”

In 2019, a supposed recording of Ofosu Ampofo talking to some party members has gone viral on social media.

Ofosu-Ampofo and Kwaku Boahen, an NDC Communications Officer, are on trial for conspiracy to cause harm after he [Ofosu-Ampofo] threatened to harm the chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, and some individuals.

Ampofo is being charged with assault because he is said to have told NDC communicators to attack public officials, like the Chairpersons of the National Peace Council and the EC.
