New SHS timetable: Ghanaians react, say it is Dumsor and Confusion

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the new SHS timetable /calendar for all tracks. The reaction of Ghanaians on social media since the release is worrying as many see it as Dumsor and Confusion.
What used to be a simple school year calendar is now complicated with different reopening and vacation days for students and parents to battle with.
Some have tagged the education ministry as “incompetent” because of the timetable. Others have questioned why the SHS1 students were split into Gold and Green tracks after the nation had been convinced that the Double Track was over and that government had built new facilities in schools to accommodate the numbers.
The GES has in an earlier publication disclosed that the change to Green and Gold Tracks for SHS 1 students was because of Covid-19 the public is not convinced yet.
Some social media users have described the new SHS timetable as an interesting and confusing calendar. On GES’ Facebook page, a social media user said “Display of incompetent minister managing GES”
There is even more confusion on the new calendar. SHS1 single-track schools are vacating on 15 June and another single track SHS1 students are vacating on 16 July. This per the calendar means: Single Track schools thus those without double track will vacate their SHS1 students on 16th July whiles the SHS1 students in Double Track Schools will vacate on 15th June 2021. The question that needs clarification is: Are there double-track SHS that have single-track SHS1? If yes, then that will settle the confusion.

Samples comments and questions on the new SHS timetable
There seem to be more questions for the GES.
“These gold track shs1 students, what have you taught them that they are coming home?”
“GES please clarify on this Shs 1 single track vacation dates conflict. Is it 15th June or 16th July?”
“Has the SHS 1 GOLD in school already and they are vacating on 4th May?

“This is what happens when politicians take over the mandate of institutions. Until GES is made autonomous, the education system will continue to dwindle.”
“You want the school to communicate to parents so they can plan the school and the workers also need to plan. So with all that when is 1st semester ending and 2nd-semester beginning.”
