A Press Conference by Pre-Tertiary education unions is slated for July 5, 2022.
This was contained in a letter dated 1st July by the teachers and education union of TUC.
The letter which was signed by the Deputy General Secretary Mr. Charles Kofi Osei disclosed that, the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), Teachers and Education Workers Union of Ghana (TEWU), Ghana National Association of Teachers (NAGRAT), and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT) would hold a joint press conference on 5th July, 2022.
The press conference will offer the unions an opportunity to update the populace of the recent happenings in the education sector.
“This has become necessary due to government’s feet dragging on the payment of the Cost of Leaving Allowance (COLA) to public sector workers.
Ahead of the announcement of the press conference, some teacher unions had threatened to embark on industrial action should the government failure to pay their COLA.
In the letter announcing the press conference, the pre tertiary education unions called on their members to be on standby for a possible action.
“We are therefore calling on members to be on standby for any possible action on the on the request of the COLA.” the statement said.
Are we heading for an industrial strike or government will take proactive steps to foil any danger an industrial action will have on the education sector.
