Ghana Black Stars Is Now Like “Frefre Korbor”: Build a new team, retire all old players

Ghana Black Stars Is Now Like Frefre Korbor: Build a new team, retire all old players

Just watching Ghana play against Namibia and Cape Verde between January 5 and 14 shows that, indeed, the Ghana Black Stars are now like the Frefre Korbor team.

Yes, the once glamorous Ghana Black Stars are now like Frefre Korbor. There is nothing good this team can offer. In the end, taxpayer money is going to be wasted. Our highest achievement in the ongoing 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast will be round two. We cannot go past that stage.

The Ghana Black Stars showed us exactly what they were made up of when they played their last friendly match with Namibia before the 2023 AFCON.

Our defence is very porous, and the compartment and telepathy between the back four are like sea sand mixed with pebbles. Our midfield is as weak as a thread woven with wind, and the less said about our forward and striking potency, the better. Where is this Yeboah guy wearing number 7 for the Black Stars from? He was the biggest liability of the day; his call-up was wrong, and his contribution to the end game was far behind zero on the number line between negative 11 and negative 10.

Ghana must forget any intentions of winning the African Cup of Nations for another 20 years or so and also forget about qualifying for the next FIFA World Cup.

Losing to Cape Verde in the first match of the 2023 AFCON gave Ghana a convincing weakness in the Ghana Black Stars. You do not need to be a footballer, a football pundit, or a coach to tell that the team playing has no character, has no game plan, and is like a flock of sheep without direction.

It is time to draw the curtains on another generation of the Ghana Black Stars. Come to think of it, if most of the regular Black Star players are not on the team and those still playing have to start on the bench, it simply means they are out of steam and should not be in the Black Stars.

The likes of Amertey, Dede Ayew, and all the old players need not be on the team. They have come to the end of the road as Black Stars players, and they need to be told it is time to hang their boots as far as the Black Stars are concerned.

Going forward, Ghana needs a new technical team. Chris Houston has proven beyond reasonable doubt that he is not the kind of coach Ghana needs now. The longer we keep Chris Houston on the job, the worse the performance the Black Stars will deliver.

Build a new team, retire all the old players, or stop going to competitions. Ghana’s fans are tired of seeing the once glorious and feared Black Stars playing like a “Division 4 team”

Now, Ghanaians do not feel like watching the Black Stars any more. We should end the AFCON 2023 campaign with a maximum of 2 points any thing beyond 3 points will be our biggest achievement at the group stage.

Football top game predictions for Today: AFCON, EPL and More

  • SPABetis vs Granada (1X): This is a tricky one. Both teams are in good form, so a draw wouldn’t be a surprise. However, Betis might have a slight edge playing at home.
  • Besiktas vs Karagumruk (1X): Besiktas is the clear favorite here, but Karagumruk can be dangerous on their day. I could see this going either way.
  • R. Oviedo vs Amorebieta (1X): Another close match. Oviedo is slightly favored at home, but Amorebieta is a tough opponent. A draw is a good shout here as well.
  • Newry City vs Cliftonville (2): I don’t know much about this league, but Cliftonville seems to be the stronger team based on your prediction.
  • Chaves vs Sporting (2): Similar to the previous match, I’m not familiar with the teams but Sporting looks like the favorite based on your tip.
  • PSV vs Excelsior (1/1): PSV is a dominant force in the Dutch league, so I agree with your prediction of a comfortable win.
  • Darmstadt vs Dortmund (X2): This is a big one! Dortmund is the much stronger team, but Darmstadt can be tough at home. I wouldn’t be surprised if Dortmund wins, but an upset wouldn’t be out of the question either.
  • Newcastle vs Man City (X2): Man City is the heavy favorite here, but Newcastle has been in good form lately. Maybe they can pull off an upset at home?
  • Chelsea vs Fulham (1X): Chelsea is another strong favorite, but Fulham can be dangerous on the counter-attack. A draw wouldn’t be a shock.
  • Ivory Coast vs Guinea Bissau (1): Ivory Coast is the clear favorite here, and I agree with your prediction of a win. It will be very difficult for Guinea Bissau to get a win against the host nation. We expect Ivory Coast to make a good statement and a good start in the AFCON they are hosting. A win for the home team will ensure more funs come to the stadium for all the other matches. A loss will demoralize locals and take the sting out of the euphoria of the tournament.

2023 AFCON Ivory Coast vs Guinea Bissau: Prediction, kick-off time, team news, odds

Hosts Ivory Coast today get the Africa Cup of Nations underway when they take on Guinea-Bissau in the tournament opener.

The two-time champions will be hoping to get their title challenge off to a good start as they look to prove a point under veteran coach Jean-Louis Gasset that they are not a faded force.

2023 AFCON Ivory Coast vs Guinea Bissau

Having failed to reach the latter stages in the last three AFCON tournaments – and after not even qualifying for the last two World Cups – Les Elephants can count on home advantage and a favourable fixture to get the ball rolling this year.

Guinea-Bissau, who are sat outside the world’s top 100 in FIFA’s rankings, are yet to win a game at AFCON ahead of what will be their fourth attempt at the group stages.

A 6-2 friendly defeat to Mali could be a foreboding sign of their campaign to come however they did pull off a surprise win over Nigeria in qualification. Ivory Coast, meanwhile, warmed up by smashing five goals past Sierra Leone.

Date, kick-off time and venue
Ivory Coast vs Guinea-Bissau is scheduled for an 8pm GMT kick-off tonight, Saturday, January 13, 2024.

The match will take place at Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan.
