Keep faith in Bawumia to turn things around — Lydia Alhassan advises students

Keep faith in Bawumia save us — Lydia Alhassan advises students

In a recent gathering that brought together over 2,000 students from the University of Ghana, Legon, and the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Lydia Seyram Alhassan, the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, delivered a powerful message of hope and resilience in relation to Bawumia to the gathering.

Known affectionately as Maa Lydia, she used the occasion of her annual “Easter Feast and Games” to embolden students to keep their faith in Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, especially amidst the current economic challenges faced by the nation.

Alhassan’s message was clear and poignant: Dr. Bawumia possesses the knowledge, skill, and vision required to steer Ghana towards a brighter, more prosperous future.

She underscored the Vice President’s commitment to addressing economic woes head-on, including his bold promise to eliminate certain government taxes such as the E-levy, a move anticipated to bring significant relief to many Ghanaians if he is elected president in the 2024 elections.

The “Easter Feast and Games” event, a staple in Alhassan’s community engagement efforts, served as more than just a social gathering.

It was a platform for fostering unity, encouraging academic and personal development among students, and demonstrating tangible support for youth empowerment—evidenced by the GHS 500 awarded to game winners.

This event follows closely on the heels of another of Alhassan’s initiatives, where GH₵1,000 in seed money was distributed to market women in Dzorwulu and Tesano, reflecting her ongoing commitment to uplifting her constituents.

Alhassan’s faith in Dr. Bawumia’s capabilities, particularly his expertise in economic matters and his pioneering stance on digitalization, was highlighted as a beacon of hope for Ghana’s future.

She portrayed the Vice President as a key figure capable of navigating the country through its current economic difficulties towards a more digitally inclusive and economically vibrant Ghana.

As the political atmosphere heats up with Alhassan facing John Dumelo of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the forthcoming elections, her efforts to engage and empower the youth, especially students within her constituency, underscore a profound belief in the potential for positive change.

The Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, with its history of political fervor, remains a critical battleground for showcasing the impact of dedicated leadership and community-oriented policies.

Lydia Alhassan’s advice to students to maintain their faith in Dr. Bawumia is not just a call to political loyalty, but an invitation to envision a future where economic challenges are met with innovative solutions, where the youth play a central role in the nation’s development, and where Ghana shines as a beacon of progress and prosperity on the African continent.
