2024/2025 Entry Requirements for University of Ghana Undergraduate Admissions

University of Ghana Releases 2025/2026 Undergraduate Admission Lists — Here’s How to Check Yours Now University of Ghana statutes LGBTQ+

The University of Ghana has opened the 2024/2025 undergraduate admissions portal. Here are the entry requirements for this year’s admissions.

General Entry Requirements

Prospective applicants must meet the following minimum entry requirements:
– Credits (A1 – C6 in WASSCE and A – D in SSSCE) in English, Core Mathematics, and Integrated Science (for Science-related programs) or Social Studies (for non-Science programs).

Three elective subjects in Science for Science or Agriculture-related programs or three elective subjects in General Arts/Business for non-Science disciplines, with a total aggregate not exceeding 24.

Additional requirements include a grade C6 in WASSCE/D in SSSCE in Social Studies/Life Skills for Science applicants and Integrated Science/Core Science for non-Science applicants.

College of Health Sciences

Short-listed applicants must pass an interview and/or entrance examination for programs in the College of Health Sciences.

Specific entry requirements for various programs are outlined as follows:

University of Ghana Medical School

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.

Core: Credit passes in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science & Social Studies.

Electives: Credit passes in Chemistry and any two from Physics, Biology, and Elective Mathematics.

University of Ghana Dental School

Bachelor of Dental Surgery.

Core: Credit passes in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science & Social Studies.

Electives: Credit passes in Chemistry and any two from Physics, Biology, and Elective Mathematics.

School of Pharmacy:Doctor of Pharmacy.

Core: Credit passes in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science & Social Studies.
Electives: Credit passes in Chemistry, Biology, and either Physics or Elective Mathematics.

School of Biological & Allied Health Sciences

Various Bachelor of Science programs.

Core: Credit passes in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science & Social Studies.

Electives: Credit passes in Chemistry, Physics, and either Biology or Elective Mathematics.

School of Nursing and Midwifery

Bachelor of Science programs.
Entry requirements vary depending on the chosen option.

College of Basic and Applied Sciences

The College offers a range of programs with specific entry requirements, including:

  • School of Physical & Mathematical Sciences: Bachelor of Science programs in Physical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Earth Sciences.
  • School of Biological Sciences Bachelor of Science programs in various biological disciplines.

College of Humanities

Programs such as Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and Bachelor of Laws (LLB) are offered, each with its own set of entry requirements.

Core: Credit passes in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science & Social Studies

Electives: Credit passes in any three elective subjects

College of Education

The College offers Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Education programs, each with specific entry requirements tailored to the respective disciplines.

School of Continuing & Distance Education

Offers various Bachelor programs with flexible learning options, including Business Administration, Arts, and Information Technology.

University of Ghana Opens Admissions For Computer Science Postgraduate Programmes – APPLY HERE

University of Ghana admission cut-offs

University of Ghana has opened admissions for Postgraduate Computer Science programmes in the 2024/2025 academic year.

The programme duration is One (1) year.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The minimum entry is a First Degree in Computing, IT, or any relevant field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, etc., from a recognized University.

HOW TO APPLY

A. GHANAIAN APPLICANTS ONLY

  • Ghanaian applicants can obtain the University of Ghana application e-voucher for GH¢ 220.00 via USSD Payment or at specified banks.
  • Applicants should carefully follow the instructions on the voucher when completing the ONLINE APPLICATION FORM.
  • Applicants who did not graduate from the University of Ghana must submit the following documents online:
  1. Bachelors’ Degree Certificate and Transcript (for those applying for Masters’ Degree programs)
  2. Bachelors’ and Masters’ Degree Certificate and Transcript (for those applying for PhD programs)
  3. Three referees’ reports
  4. PhD applicants should attach their Research Proposals (Not more than Four pages)
  5. Scan and upload a Gazette/Marriage certificate where the name has changed
  • The official transcript should be scanned into one PDF or WORD document and attached to the application.
  • All applicants who graduated from the University of Ghana from 1996 to date should indicate their ‘STUDENT IDENTITY NUMBERS’ on their forms before submission.

Steps to purchasing UG Application voucher via USSD:

1. Dial *887*9# on all networks
2. Enter UG
3. Authorize Payment
4. User receives e-voucher via SMS after successful payment.

To Retrieve E-Voucher:
1. Dial *887*9#
2. Select “Yes”
3. Select “Retrieve E-Voucher”

B. INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS AND GHANAIANS APPLYING FROM ABROAD

  • International applicants and Ghanaians applying from abroad should use the provided links to access the online application form for completion and submission.
  • All applicants are expected to pay a non-refundable application processing fee of US$110.00 to the University of Ghana. This fee can be paid directly or wire transferred into the UNIVERSITY OF GHANA ECOBANK ACCOUNT.
