Teacher Kwadzo’s Dismissal: 55 days absence, implications and expectations

Teacher Kwadzo’s Dismissal: 55 days absence, implications, and expectations have become the most discussed issue among the chalk fraternity.
Hon Jerry Akporhor, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) & Founder at Informed Teachers Network writes…
According to GES code of ethics, 10 days of absence is a big deal, considered major misconduct, described as vacation of post which can warrant dismissal.
But this allegation when leveled against you, is the easiest to work your way around. Every school has attendance register for teachers.
In addition to attendance register, there’s also a logbook and movement book. All these records can exonerate you in these cases if the allegations were false.
The number of times a teacher goes to school in a term can easily be traced likewise the number of times school was open for that term. With simple addition and subtraction, it is easy to ascertain whether you have been absent for the alleged number of days or not.
This is what I was expecting from Teacher Kwadwo but he was only talking plenty.
He made us aware that he asked permission. You can’t ask all permissions verbally. Produce evidence of the once you have done in letter writing and other unconventional ways like SMS WhatsApp messages and emails.
Every portfolio has power limitations.
He made mention that he arranged with his Headteacher to take Fridays off. There’s no documentation to that agreement. Moreover, the Headteacher doesn’t have the capacity to to grant such a request, not even the SISO. Such a request may be granted by District Direct.
I agree that what he goes out there to do is for the good of everyone including his own brand but these are some basic rules we shouldn’t lose sight of.
Every Employer is looking fo employees who are ready to go above and beyond but when the basic things for which you’ve been employed are in Question, whatever extra thing you do gets no consideration.
Great submission I really thought the said teacher in question should have just contacted the legal team of GNAT to help him out with this issue or better still seek redress from the right quarters if he had a genuine case. But taking to FB won’t solve a thing after all you were not employed through FB . And people should pls stop being sentimental and political and help him solve the problem objectively if only he wants to be back to GES
You are not in the teaching system so you can sit anywhere I type rubbish.
The tables will turn and similar measures will be taken against your members don’t come and cry foul.
T. K. was hounded out because of his activism. You can choose to spin it to those who will believe you
Reactions from teachers on the above post:
I don’t think the decision to lay Teacher Kwadzo off will ever be reversed because he is unable to convince the reading public or those involved in the case of his innocence. Having been away 55 days from school, almost a full school term’s absence is something worrying despite whatever reason he might provide to back that long continuous absence.
The headteacher in his school from whom he said to have obtained his permissions should be in the position to provide proofs to clear either himself or Kwadzo, else he be sacked too. In all of this, I advise that T Kwadzo looks beyond the current circumstances and do something for himself. Looking at a few online videos of him tells me he has other talents which are of economic value.
Why doesn’t he sharpen those and make himself fortunes? After all, what is in the teaching field? However, my advice to him is that he must grow out of an adolescent lifestyle attitude to a responsible young man who does things in a proper way to earn the respect of those around him.
Not seating in a car with food on his laps and opening wide his mouth to public view. Teachers must act responsibly and I don’t think teaching is a call for T Kwadzo. He should forget any legal litigation of his sacking from GES and move on with his life. Life is still worth it without teaching to earn a living.
