The Minister for Education, Hon Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum says his outfit in the next academic year will introduce a placement system dubbed E-deployment for new teachers to select rural areas in the country to be posted to.

The E-deployment, Dr Yaw Adutwum in charge of Education said will come with an incentive and other juicy packages to motivate the newly trained posted teachers to make the teaching profession attractive to them.

“We will soon start what we call teacher incentive program to ensure promotion and study leave of new teachers posted to rural places to are prioritised, we are working to make teaching attractive,” the Teaching Minister stated.

He in an interview with Wontumi FM monitored by EducationWeb.com.gh said the Ministry of Finance in the next academic year will grant his outfit financial clearance for the Ghana Education Service to recruit graduates teachers.

“The Ghana Education Service (GES) early next year (January or February) will be given a financial clearance to recruit graduate teachers who have completed National Service and passed the teacher licensure examination,” he stated.

He also added that MoE “we will soon start what we call teacher incentive program to ensure promotion and study leave of new teachers posted to rural places to are prioritised, we are working to make teaching attractive.”

Asked if trained teachers from private Colleges of Education will be considered for recruitment in the next academic year, Mr Adutwum replied Yes adding that MoE and GES are working to ensure they are recruited in 2022.

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) mid-November this year granted the Education Ministry financial clearance for the Director-General of GES, Prof Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa to recruit 16,850 newly trained teachers for the service.

“Financial clearance is hereby granted to the Minister for Education to enable the Director-General of Ghana Education Service to recruit sixteen thousand, eight hundred and fifty (16,850) newly trained teachers for the service

Approval is also granted for their emolument to be charged against the compensation of Employees vote of the Ministry of Education in the 2020 budget,” a statement signed by the Deputy Minister for Finance stated.

It continued “the Director-General of GES is to ensure that the new teachers have their documents processed in time and placed on mechanized payroll to enable the Controller and Accountant General to work on their payment.”

The E-deployment in 2022/2023 GES postings Effective Date

The Ministry of Finance said the effective date of the appointment should not be earlier than December 1, 2021, adding that the financial clearance granted to the Ministry expires end of December and cannot be used thereafter.
