In this article, you’ll learn the grading system for the various colleges at the University of Ghana. You’ll also learn what score to get to avoid a resit at the University of Ghana.
Current Grading System for Various Colleges in UG
The University of Ghana has a general grading system for all colleges in the school. You need to know the current grading system for various courses to know what score to get to meet a particular mark.
It is necessary to know that the grade you get for a course is inversely proportional to the Cumulative Grade Point ( CGPA). Therefore you should know the grades you need for every course in your college to do well in the examination.
Score Grade
80 -100 A
75- 79 B+
70 – 74 B
65-69 C+
60 – 64 C
55 – 59 D+
50 – 54 D
45 – 49 E
0 – 44 F
The above is the actual grading system operated by the University of Ghana. All students are required to know this because they will be graded according to the mark they score in every examination.
Usually, the grade given comes as the final result of your Interim Assessment score, together with the final examination score.
Depending on your lecturer, you may have to get more scores in the exams than the Interim Assessment, to get good grades and vice versa. Sometimes, both the examination and Interim Assessment have the same scores required to get 100%.
What Score to Get to Avoid Resit in the University of Ghana
To avoid resit in the University of Ghana means you should not get an E or an F in the particular course. This means that you should not get 0 to 49 in any course in order to escape resit in the university.
Getting an F in any course requires that you retake the examination as a resit course. If it is an E you scored in the course and it is a core course, you would have to resit but if it is an elective, you can choose to resit the course.
Therefore, you need to get an A to a D in order to avoid resitting a course at the University of Ghana. That is, you should score 100 to 50 in a course so that you would not resit the course.
