WAEC Releases Witheld Results Of Some Candidates
Final results of 21,458 candidates out of the 22,270 whose results were withheld by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) have been released. These results were witheld as a results of mass cheating.
These candidates can have access to their placement from Monday December 11, 2023.
The results of other 812 candidates are still withheld.
WAEC withheld the results of the impacted candidates over announced cases of cheating in some subjects.
Cassandra Twum Ampofo who is the Public Relations Officer of WAEC says these results have been released and their placements have been worked on.
”We have 21,458 thousand released and we have worked on them. So, by Monday if they check on the portal, they will see their placement. Initially all those candidates could not access their placement but now they can. Now we have 812 candidates whose results are yet to be released and we will work on that. ” She said.
In November, WAEC cancelled the Subject Results of 312 school candidates and 3 private candidates.
These results were cancelled because the impacted candidates took foreign materials into the examination hall or plotted with other candidates.
The 34th Meeting of the Final Awards and Examiners’ Appointment Committee for BECE, held on Monday, 6th November, 2023 approved “that the Entire Results of 41 school candidates and 1 private candidate be cancelled for possession of mobile phones in the examination hall.”
Subject Results of 180 school candidates and 4 private candidates for different associated offenses as well as the Entire Results with 110 school candidates and 2 private Candidates for different thought offenses were also cancelled.

The examination body further noted that “the scripts of 22,270 candidates, in certain subjects are being scrutinized for revealed cases of mass cheating. Their results might be cancelled or released in light of the outcome of investigations.”
