The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that it has taken a number of steps to ensure that the 2023 WASSCE and BECE examinations are leakage-free. It is the prayer of well-meaning stakeholders that all students who engage in any acts of Apor are caught in the act just as schools that will attempt it.
WAEC’s Steps to Ensure Leakage-Free WASSCE and BECE
These steps include:
- Increasing the number of depots used for storing examination papers, to reduce the distance from the depots to the schools that will serve as examination centers.
- Releasing question papers no earlier than 45 minutes before the start of the examinations.
- Inspecting all depots for examination question papers to ensure that they are in good shape and secure.
- Moving question papers in bits, so that only the papers needed for a particular week or few days are at the depots at any given time.
- Working closely with security agencies to track and arrest dealers and operators of rogue websites that sell leaked examination papers.
- Monitoring the examinations by staff of the Council, monitoring agents, the NIB, and other security agencies.
