In a disheartening turn of events, a government ambulance was captured on video as it speeds past a fatal accident scene without offering any assistance.

The incident occurred on the Mankessim-Apam Road on Sunday, March 10, 2024, and has since become a focal point of discussion on social media platforms.

The accident involved a head-on collision between two vehicles, resulting in significant damage and severe injuries to the occupants.

Eyewitness footage shared by @SikaOfficial on X vividly documents the aftermath of the crash, showing the mangled wrecks of the vehicles and the visibly injured victims awaiting help.

In the midst of this chaos, an ambulance, clearly marked and identifiable as belonging to the government fleet, approaches the scene.

Contrary to expectations, the video shows the ambulance driver making the decision to not stop, instead speeding past the injured individuals and the crowd of bystanders.

This action, or rather the lack thereof, has led to a surge of criticism and disappointment from the public, as captured in the video’s background audio where people can be heard expressing their frustration and dismay at the missed opportunity to provide crucial emergency medical assistance.

The community’s response to this neglect was swift and practical. Some of the good Samaritans at the scene took it upon themselves to assist the victims.

Demonstrating commendable initiative and compassion, they managed to secure a minivan, in which they placed the accident victims, and rushed them to a nearby health center for the medical attention they urgently needed.

As of now, the exact number of casualties or the severity of the injuries sustained in the accident remains unconfirmed.

However, the incident has raised serious questions about the responsibility and readiness of emergency services in Ghana, especially concerning their response to critical situations that demand immediate action.

The public’s reaction to the video underscores a collective call for accountability and the need for a reassessment of emergency response protocols to ensure that those in dire need are not left helpless in their moments of greatest vulnerability.
