10 SHS Whose Headmasters Have Been Suspended Over Unauthorized Prospectus

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has so far suspended 10 senior high school headmasters for collecting unauthorized fees and prospectus from SHS Freshers.

The names of the schools whose headmasters have been suspended include;

1. Ghana Senior High School (SHS), Koforidua,

2. Kumasi Girls

3. Asanteman SHS

4. Kumasi SHS

5. Manso Adubia SHS

6. Agric Nzema Community SHS

7. Nkawie SHS

8.  Collins Senior High School.

According to the Ghana Education Service, these headmasters are supervising the collection of unauthorized Prospectus from SHS Freshers. Some schools ask students to buy ceremonial cloth worth ¢200, track suites worth ¢250 and other items not listed on the National Prospectus.

GES has asked them to step down as they begin investigations into the matter.

This comes after the Ghana Education Service (GES)  released the National SHS prospectus for the 2023/2024 academic year. All Senior High Schools in Ghana are advised to solely use the prospectus provided by the Ghana Education Service.

Below are the items found on the National prospectus

GENERAL ITEMS

  1. VALID NHIS CARD
  2. NATIONAL ID CARD (GHANA CARD IF ANY)
  3. TWO PASSPORT SIZE PICTURES
  4. PHOTOCOPY OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE /BAPTISMAL CERTIFICATE IF REQUIRED BY SCHOOL

PROSPECTUS FOR SHS BOARDING STUDENTS

  1. Hard Body Suit CASE OR TRUNK
  2. Chop Box (Wooden/Plastic)
  3. Drinking Cup, 1 plastic or stainless plate and a set of cutlery
  4. Toiletries (1 Deodorant, 1 pack T-roll, tooth paste, tooth brush, Soap, pomade and 2 packs of sanitary pads for 4 girls)
  5. Decent sandals (school’s specification) – No embellishment
  6. A pair of leather slippers (school’s specification)
  7. Decent Sneakers (black or white)
  8. 2 Pair of Socks (school’s specification)
  9. 1 Pyjamas/sleep wear
  10. Under wear (5 pants and 3 vests for girls, 3 boxer shorts or pants & 3 Singlets for boys)
  11. 1 Plastic Bucket with Cover and Pail
  12. RSV/NIV Bible/Quran and Hymn Book for Christians (School Specified)
  13. Pillow covered with Mackintosh
  14. 2 Students’ bedsheets with 2 pillow cases – Plain white
  15. 1 Blanket & Sleeping cloth
  16. A Pair of Khaki Trousers
  17. A Pair of White Trousers
  18. White dress for ladies
  19. 2 White Shirts
  20. Student’s size mosquito net
  21. 1 School bag
  22. 1 Mathematical Set & Scientific Calculator
  23. Standard Graph Book
  24. 1 Cutlass

One- third of SHS students to submit;

  • A pair of Hand Gloves (Hard)
  • Liquid Soap (5 litres)
  • 1Kg Washing Powdered Soap

Another one-third to submit these

  • 1 Bleach (small size)
  • 1 Dust Pan
  • 1 Long Handle Broom
  • 1 Scrubbing brush

Another One third to submit these

  • Standing Mop and Mop Bucket
  • 1 Duster
  • 1 Short Local Broom

  1. Some of the Tamale schools collected unexpected prospectus from our children, but they said it slightly changed by the government. Please the Government should give us the news about that unexpected prospectus please.
