This was made known by the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwah to Graphic online.
The school placements to be released will include both public and private Senior High School candidates who took part in the 2020 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and other candidates who sat for the private BECE among others.

When the school placements are released on 21st February, 2021 nearly 525,000 qualified BECE candidates will be seeking placement into 721 senior high, technical, and vocational schools of their choices which have declared about 535,000 vacancies.
Are There Enough Places in Secondary School for the 2020 School placement?
In an interview with the Daily Graphic, Prof. Opoku-Amankwa said the Education Service has enough spaces for all students who sat for the examination and are due to enjoy Free SHS.
Would there be placements for Candidates whose results have been withheld?
Prof. Opoku-Amankwa in responding to this said the GES was working with WAEC and other stakeholders to ensure the release of the results of the majority of the candidates including those whose results had been withheld for suspected examination malpractices.
He furthered that there are less than 100 candidates now whose results had been withheld by WAEC.
He added that there were enough vacancies for the candidates, for which reason there was no need for any candidate or parent to panic.
Will the School Placement Have Challenges?
The director-general explained that the challenge with the CSSPS had always been an issue of choice and not the availability of spaces.
2020 SHS placement and Oversubscribed schools
Prof. Opoku-Amankwa said over the years, the number of candidates who qualified to be placed was always far below the vacancies available, “and every year when we do our placement, just as we get oversubscribed schools, we also get under-subscribed schools”.
