2022 BECE Starts in 30 Days for Candidates

The 2022 BECE starts in 30 days for candidates who are preparing for the Junior High School leaving examination. This year’s examination which starts on Monday, 17th October 2022 is expected to end on Friday, 21st October 2022.

The Ghana Education News can confirm that the examination will afford successful candidates the chance to gain placement into Senior High Schools to enjoy the Free SHS, which commenced in 2017.

The 2021 examination was administered in 2,158 Centres across the country, a total of 571,894 candidates took the examination.

When the 2022 BECE starts in 30 Days for Candidates, the examination will be administered by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) for both school and private candidates. This will be the first time in several years that WAEC is permitting the two categories of candidates to write the same examination and paper.

WAEC is expected to wage a tough war against all forms of examination malpractices before and during the examination to help protect the credibility of the examination and the Council.

The final WAEC 2022 BECE Timetable and update for all schools and candidates have also been released several months ahead of the examination through the Ghana Education Service. Per the final BECE timetable released by WAEC, the first subject to be written on the 17th of October 2022 would be Social Studies (Section B at 9 am and Section A at 10 am). This will be followed by the Information and Communication Technology 2 (Essay) paper and the Information and Communication Technology 1 (Objective) paper at 1 pm and 2 pm respectively. The examination will end on 21st October with French papers 2 and 1.

The preparation of the candidates, their mental stability, Internal locus of control (Self-belief and confidence in their ability), motivation from teachers and home, the question answering skills, and understanding of the requirements of the examination questions will all be critical to the success of the BECE candidates.

The Ghana Education News Team is therefore calling on all schools, teachers, parents, and candidates to keep their focus. Stakeholders including parents are challenged to motivate and inspire confidence in their candidates from now. Teachers and schools must encourage students to take their revisions an inch higher and work extra hard in the next 29 to 30 days.

With the right attitude and mindset coupled with good preparation, the 2022 BECE which starts in 30 Days for candidates will be a walk-in-the-park examination.
