2023 Pre-Tertiary Academic Calendar Out With Key Changes
Less than 24 hours after GhanaEducation.Org published a post “Pre-Tertiary Schools to run 2 terms of 16 weeks in 2023? Check facts here” we have sighted a 2023 Pre-Tertiary Schools Academic Calendar With Key Changes.
Per the 2023 ACADEMIC Calendar – NURSERY/KG/BASIC 1-9/JHS
- The 2023 academic year starts on 9th January 2023 and ends on 31st March 2023. This translates into 12 weeks of teaching and learning.
- The second term starts on 10th April and ends on 28th June 2023. This is also a 12-week contact term
- The third term commences on 10th July and ends on 28th September 2023 which is a 12-week term just like the previous ones.
The above three-term academic calendar is the same for Schools, Basic Schools, and Junior High Schools. The year is expected to end at the end of September per the new calendar sighted by this news portal.
The key changes in the 2023 Pre-Tertiary Schools Academic Calendar are as follows.
- Schools will vacate in September for the third term break instead of December.
- Contact weeks for all three terms are the same. Each term is 12 weeks.
- The vacation period for term 1 is 9 days only. The term 2 vacation period is 11 days.
