The School placement better known as the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) is a system put in place to basically guide the Ministry of Education in the placing of students in secondary schools and TVETs based on the school choices made by candidates, the grades and raw scores obtained among other parameters.

What is the Computerized School Selection and Placement System in Ghana?
The Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) in Ghana is an electronic system implemented by the Ghana Education Service (GES) to manage the placement of students in senior high schools (SHS) in Ghana. The system is used to place students who have completed the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) into SHS based on their performance on the exam and their preferences for schools.
The CSSPS process begins with students registering their personal information and preferences for schools on the CSSPS website. Once the BECE results are released, the CSSPS uses a computer algorithm to match students with available spots in schools based on their preferences and exam scores.
The system aims to make the school placement process more efficient and fair, and to reduce the stress and uncertainty that students and parents often face when trying to secure a spot in a preferred school. Additionally, the CSSPS is designed to ensure that schools are filled with the most qualified students, which can help improve the overall quality of education in Ghana.
It’s worth noting that the CSSPS is not without its challenges. The implementation of the system has faced some issues with students not getting placed in their preferred schools and some students not getting any placement at all. In response, the GES has been constantly working to improve the system, making it more efficient, and responsive to the needs of the students.

Under what conditions will a student not be placed in a school using the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) ?
A student may not be placed in a school using the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) in Ghana under certain conditions. Some of these conditions include:
- Insufficient exam scores: If a student’s scores on the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) are not high enough to meet the minimum requirements for the schools they have chosen, they may not be placed in those schools.
- Limited availability: If the schools that a student has chosen are full, or if there are not enough spots available for all students, some students may not be placed in those schools.
- Incomplete or incorrect registration: If a student does not complete the registration process correctly or does not provide accurate information, they may not be placed in a school.
- Technical issues: The CSSPS is a computerized system and like any other system, it may be prone to technical issues such as server down, hacking or other technical issues that can prevent students from being placed.
It’s important to note that the placement process and the conditions that might prevent a student from being placed in a school might change over time, so it’s advisable to check the CSSPS official website or contact the Ghana Education Service for the latest information.
