2022 BECE Results: 71 Results Cancelled Entirely And Many More

WAEC Ghana has officially released the 2022 BECE results for both private and public students who sat for the examination last year.
According to WAEC Ghana, a total of 552,288 candidates sat for the examination across the country.
This post will focus on the statistics of the 2022 BECE results. Of the number of candidates who registered for the examination, how many showed up? The number of males and females and many more.
STATISTICS (PUBLIC AND PRIVATE CANDIDATES)
The school examination attracted a total of 552,288 candidates, including 276,999 males and 275,289 females.
There are 65 candidates with visual impairment, 427 with hearing impairment, and 54 with other test accommodation needs.
4,309 candidates were absent from the total number of candidates who applied for the exam.
There were 1,144 candidates who took the BECE for Private Candidates.
This group included 641 men and 503 women. 84 candidates were absent from the total number of candidates who took the exam.
MALPRACTICES
Following the completion of investigations into some of the cases of examination malpractice discovered during the examinations, the 33rd Meeting of the Final Awards and Examiners’ Appointment Committee for the BECE, 2022, held on January 24th, 2023, approved the following:
- Cancellation of subject results for 416 school candidates and 3 private candidates for bringing foreign materials into the examination hall or conspiring with other candidates;
- Subject results of 38 school candidates are being withheld pending the completion of investigations into various cases of alleged examination malpractice.
- Cancellation of the entire results of 73 school candidates and two private candidates for bringing mobile phones into the examination hall;
- Withholding of the entire results of 11 school candidates pending the completion of investigations into various cases of alleged examination malpractice.
Meanwhile, the scripts of candidates from 40 schools in specific subjects are being reviewed, according to WAEC.
According to WAEC, candidates’ withheld results may be canceled or released depending on the outcome of the investigations.
