2024 WASSCE (SC) Biometric Registration Date Released
The 2024 WASSCE (SC) biometric registration date has been released by the West African Examination Council to all public and private Senior High Schools preparing candidates for the examination.
2024 WASSCE (SC) Biometric Registration Date
Per the release, the biometric registration starts on March 4, 2024, and ends on April 12, 2024. School second cycle schools are to ensure that the biodata of all qualified candidates is collected, entered, and stored in the manner prescribed by WAEC. The data collected is also to be transferred to WAEC as directed by the council to aid the council in preparing adequate materials for all registered candidates.
A school is deemed to be late in submitting the biometric registration data of students if it fails to submit the data on or before 12 April 2024. The late submission is deemed for all data submitted from April 15 to April 26. Schools that submit their details late will have to pay 50% of the registration fee as a penalty to WAEC in addition to the full exam fee. Without the payment, WAEC will not consider the data, and affected students will not take part in the 2024 WASSCE for school candidates.
In a related development, the registration for 2024 BECE candidates has also commenced, and the heads of schools and administrators involved are required to ensure they send the required data of candidates to WAEC within their stipulated registration period.
In both the BECE and WASSCE public schools, candidates will not pay any fee to WAEC before sitting the examination.
Per the official release by GES/WAEC, the 2024 examination dates for basic and secondary schools are as follows:.
July 8–12, 2024, for BECE (SC)
July 1–August 31, 2024, for WASSCE (SC)
BECE 2024 will be carried out using the new curriculum for Basic 7-9 released in 2020 by NaCCA. The questions to be used to assess candidates will be mainly case studies, practical applications, and critical thinking questions instead of the usual direct question approach.
To ensure the data sent to WAEC for both WASSCE and BECE is free from error, parents, school administrators, IT officers, and candidates are to work hand in hand to ensure the data collected is accurate in terms of the spelling of names, the dates of birth of candidates, and their gender, among others collected during the biodata capture stage.
Passport pictures must also meet the WAEC specifications in terms of quality, background, and size.
Schools are to adhere to the 2024 WASSCE (SC) Biometric Registration Date Released and forward high-quality work and reliable data to WAEC on their students for the examinations.
