2025 WASSCE for School Candidates Scheduled for July/August?

Will the 2025 WASSCE for School Candidates Be Held in July/August 2025?

The proposed month for the 2025 WASSCE for school candidates has already been announced by the Ghana Education Service (GES). This date was included in the released academic calendar for the 2024–2025 academic year.

Is the 2025 WASSCE Exam For School Candidates To Be Conducted In July/August?

According to the GES academic calendar, the WASSCE for school candidates (SC) will take place in July/August 2025. However, WAEC is yet to release the official examination timetable, registration fees, and other details for the exam.

For 2026, the WASSCE for school candidates is projected to be conducted in May/June. Students are advised to disregard recent claims suggesting that the 2025 WASSCE will be administered in May/June 2025, as this contradicts the information provided by the GES on the released calendar.

It is hoped that the examination dates projected for 2025 and 2026 will help Ghana align with the WASSCE schedule for all WAEC member states and restore the country’s academic calendar to the pre-COVID-19 era. Over the last four years, final-year students in senior high schools in Ghana have been administered a Ghana-only WASSCE by WAEC.

Final-year SHS students in Ghana are encouraged to take their studies seriously, as their examination is only six months away. Unless WAEC or the GES/Ministry of Education (MoE) announces any changes, the July/August date on the 2024–2025 academic calendar will remain valid for the 2025 and 2026 examinations.

The BECE for the year 2025 is scheduled to be administered by WAEC in June 2025, ahead of the WASSCE (SC).

It is also unclear whether the incoming government will continue to bear the full cost of the examination for public senior high school candidates, as has been done by the NPP-led government since 2018.
