Residents of Kosane in the Dormaa central municipality of the Bono region are in shock as 21-year-old-boy commits suicide. The deceased, Kwaku Prosper committed suicide by hanging himself.
It has come to light that, Kwaku Prosper was a drug addict. This revelation was made by the stepfather of the deceased, Mr. Agyenim Boateng. According to him, the deceased was living a normal life however, he changed all of a sudden. He, however, added that he cannot tell what forced him to take his own life but he was quick to add that, drug addiction may have contributed to it.

“Prosper drop out of school and by so I paid money for him to learn to till but he decided not to do and stay in the house,” he said.

Kingdom FM’s reporter Wofa K. Speaking with the Assemblyman of Kosane, Mr. Kingsford Kyei, he confirmed the sad incident and added that the police have taken up the matter and is currently under investigation.
The rate at which young people in Ghana are committing suicide needs to be investigated to uncover the issues confronting them and to come out with long-term strategies that will curb the growing numbers.
