Ablekuma North rerun Results
  • The 2025 Ablekuma North Rerun Election results start coming in.
  • NDC’s Ewurabena Aubynn Leading Amid Low Turnout and Violence

The 2025 Ablekuma North rerun election has concluded, with preliminary polling station results favoring the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Ewurabena Aubynn. However, it is still too early to declare a final winner.

The election recorded a low voter turnout, compounded by incidents of violence at several polling stations on election day. Voter turnout is not expected to exceed 40%.

In total, just over 6,000 voters were expected to cast their ballots across 19 polling stations in the Ablekuma North constituency.

Although voting commenced peacefully at 7 a.m., chaos soon erupted. The situation quickly escalated into vandalism, open street fights, and clashes between rival supporters after some polling stations were invaded. Video footage of these skirmishes shows journalists being assaulted by protestors. A police officer was also captured on camera slapping a cameraman from one of the media houses covering the rerun election.

The Ablekuma North constituency has been without parliamentary representation in the 9th Parliament since the December 7, 2024 general elections. This followed disputes and irregularities in results from select polling stations.

Both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) challenged parts of the initial results, each claiming victory and raising concerns over missing or unverifiable pink sheets from sections of the constituency.

Margin to Chance: The margin to chance that Ewurabena Aubynn will win is high. For Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie to win, she would need to reverse the current trend dramatically in the final 14 polling stations, winning them by a significant margin to overcome her current 61-vote deficit. The data from the first five stations suggests this is unlikely.
