3 little boys drowned in an abandoned pit in Accra and typical of Ghanaian political leaders, a visit to the old looming dangerous site took place after the desaster.
Three young lives were lost when 3 little boys aged between seven and nine got drowned in an abandoned pit Tuba, a locality in Greater Accra’s Ga South Municipality. The children are six-year-old Tawiah Adjei-Mensah, eight-year-old Isaac Among, and Elisha Kakra Adu-Noah, 9. Isaac and Elisha who are siblings and their friend Samuel left their residence to play at a location known as Mountain View at Tuba last Saturday morning.
How the 3 little boys got drowned in the abandoned pit
After playing, the three friends decided to wash down in a nearby pit that had developed from rainwater that came from a ridge. The information available shows that illegal sand winning was rampant in the area and contributed significantly to the creation of the pit.
A mudslide had led to the creation of the pit in the area however, the children were not aware. This made the base of the pit muddy and made it difficult for them to swim out upon entering the pit.
Their bodies have been removed and deposited at the morgue for autopsy and investigations by the Ghana Police.

The Ga South Municipal Assembly stopped the illegal sand winning activities about two years ago, but the vast parcel of disturbed land lies precariously with many death traps, especially during the rainy season.
When the Daily Graphic visited the community and the scene of the incident, relatives of the children and residents of the area were in a state of mourning and confusion because the pit that had taken the lives of the children was still open, two days after the incident.

Aftermath action after the 3 little boys got drown in the abandoned pit
After the sad news broke, Joseph Nyarni Stephen, the Ga South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), and Sylvester Tetteh, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro, led a visit to Mountain View, Tuba, yesterday to examine the situation.
Among’s uncle, Emmanuel Asamoah, told the team that the three children went out to swim in the water that had pooled in the pit from the tremendous rain that had come down the steep slope.
He said that despite the pit’s small size, the lads became trapped owing to the muck that had accumulated in it.
The group had encounters with Kakra and Tawiah’s relatives and was informed at their home.
