The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was the Special Guest of Honour at the 13th Congregation of the University of Professional Studies, Accra, which saw degrees conferred on 870 successful Graduates.

The event which was held at the newly-named Kofi Ohene Konadu Auditorium of the University, took place without guests, family, friends and well-wishers as part of measures to ensure strict adherence to the Covid-19 protocols.
Dr. Bawumia commended the Vice Chancellor and UPSA for the immense contribution the university has made to the development of education in Ghana over the last 55 years.
He described the new graduands as Ghana’s future leaders who should live up to the expectations both the University and the nation.
The Veep also entreated the graduating class to be mindful of the challenges ahead as they leave school into the world of work, charging them to rise above the challenges and lead in providing solutions, especially as the world grapples with the Covid-19 pandemic.
“You are entering into a world that has changed and is full of challenges especially in these times,” the Vice President said. “It is very important we understand these problems and know what innovative means we can contribute to solving these problems in a world that has gone very digital.”
Chairman of the Governing Council of UPSA, Dr. Kofi Ohene Konadu praised the graduands for challenging themselves to complete their various programmes amid the uncertainty created by the Coronavirus pandemic.
He also expressed his admiration for Vice Chancellor Professor Abednego Feehi Okoe Amartey, highlighting how smoothly the university has been ran in a period where many institutions and organizations across the globe are at the mercy of the Coronavirus.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Abednego Feehi Okoe Amartey was grateful to the Hon. Minister of Education Yaw Osei Adutwum for his expeditious reconstitution of the University’s Council.
Prof. Amartey also took the opportunity to publicly thank the former Council members for their untiring support and the pivotal role they played in ensuring he had a very successful first 4-year term.
The Vice-Chancellor underscored how the UPSA is now maximising the opportunities provided by online education for effective teaching and learning and reiterated that the blend of in-person and off-campus learning “is now here to stay.”
In total, 870 students graduated at the First session of the 13th Congregation of the University of Professional Studies.
Out of this number, the School of Graduate Studies presented 764 students which comprised 55 Master of Philosophy students, 591 Master of Business Administration students, 107 Master of Arts students and 11 Master of Science in Insurance Risk Management students.
