Embrace critical thinking – Prof. Ofosu-Anim urges fresh students

Professor John Ofosu-Anim, the Vice-Chancellor of the Presbyterian University, Ghana (PUG), has urged students to adopt a critical approach and develop solutions that make a positive difference.
He highlighted that the world is changing quickly and therefore, attaining success demands a strong base of understanding, ethics and capacity for adjustment.
Prof. John Ofosu-Anim shared thoughts during the matriculation ceremonies for the 2024/25 academic year which took place at various campuses of the university, including Okwahu, Akuapem, Kumasi, and Asante Akyem. The ceremonies reached a climax on March 26 with the Faculty of Medical Sciences and the School of Nursing and Midwifery.
A total enrollment of 1830 new students gained admission across all campuses, with over 599 students in the Faculty of Medical Sciences and 296 in the School of Nursing and Midwifery.
During his speech, Professor John Ofosu-Anim encouraged students to aim for academic excellence, affirming, “You have chosen a profession where your actions can directly affect the well-being and lives of individuals.”
He wholeheartedly reaffirmed his faith in the chosen students, highlighting the vital role they will play in shaping the future of healthcare. As future healthcare professionals, their work is to have impact on individuals’ well-being. He emphasized the importance of their prospective roles, stressing that their dedication and expertise will be very essential in driving positive change.
By acknowledging their importance, he inspired the students to embrace their responsibilities and strive for excellence in their future careers.
