GES SHS2 Students Easter Break and Public Holidays Announced

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the SHS2 Students Easter Break. This is the first time the GES has made a proactive announcement concerning holidays for schools in general. The usual unprofessional and late announcements of breaks have been dealt with for the first time.

The announced break for students and teachers in Technical, Vocational and Secondary schools takes effect from Thursday, 17th April 2025, to Monday, 21st April 2025.

Per the GES announcement, head teachers are to permit learners who are willing to travel home for the Easter festivities to do so. According to the GES, the break is optional and students who prefer to remain on campus must be appropriately supervised.

All students who will travel home for the short holiday are expected to return to school on 22nd April to continue with their academic work.

Usually the GES makes such an announcement public a day before or the night before and sometimes late in the day after schools have closed. A typical example is the late announcement of the Teachers Professional Day holiday for school children at about 5 pm on 27th March when learners had already left school.

In a related development, the general public is hereby informed that Friday, 18th April 2025, and Monday, 21st April 2025, which mark Good Friday and Easter Monday, respectively, are Statutory Public Holidays and should be observed as such throughout the country.
