What Are The General Requirements For Admission At Borno State University? 

To attend Borno State University, you must meet certain admission requirements. The university admits students both directly and through the UTME. Each of these entries has specific admission requirements. Below is a detailed breakdown of each category’s admission requirements.

The following are the general UTME entry requirements for students who wish to attend university.

  • Candidates must have at least five (5) credit passes in SSCE (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or equivalent), including English Language and Mathematics, as well as three additional subjects relevant to their selected course.
  • The five credit passes must be obtained in no more than two sittings.
  • Candidates must take the JAMB UTME examination and achieve a minimum score of 140, which is the university’s general cut-off mark for the 2024/2025 session.
  • The chosen UTME subject combination must correspond to the requirements of the proposed curriculum. For example, MBBS involves Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • All UTME applicants must take part in the Borno State University post-UTME screening.

General Requirements 

  • Applicants must have at least a Lower Credit or Merit in a relevant National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), or Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) from a recognized institution.
  • Some competitive courses, such as MBBS, Nursing, or Physiotherapy, require applicants with a B.Sc. degree in a related discipline to have at least a Second-Class Lower division.
  • Direct Entry candidates must also complete the O’Level requirements, which include five (5) credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, and three other appropriate subjects to their chosen course.
  • The five O-level credits must be earned in no more than two sittings.
  • To be considered genuine, all qualifications offered must be applicable to the intended course of study.
