The University of Ghana has opened vacancies for interns and volunteers as part of efforts to beef up human resources for the University of Ghana-Carnegie Writing Centre.

Interested applicants are invited to send their applications for the role of volunteers and interns for the 2025/2026 academic year.

Objectives of the Centre:

The University of Ghana–Carnegie Writing Centre aims to build a visible and viable writing center that aligns with global best practices by:

– Providing writing tutorial services for members of the university.

– Providing professional editorial services for the university community and beyond.

– Organizing special programs on writing and communication.

– Conducting research on writing and communication.

 

Duties of successful Interns and Volunteers

– Guide students on writing and assignments.

– Proofread manuscripts with the supervision of a fellow at the centre.

– Actively participate in training sessions for units within the university community and clients outside.

– Collaborate with writing centre staff to create resources on writing.

– Provide support for special programmes.

 

Eligibility

– Applicant must be a student of the University of Ghana to qualify.

– Must have a 3.0 EGPA or higher.

– Must be a level 200-600 student of ANY DISCIPLINE.

– Must have a strong interest in writing and communication (broadly defined).

– Must be computer literate.

– Must have strong professional and social skills

 

Requirements for Application

All applicants must ensure their application covers the following to stand a chance of being considered.

– An application letter.

– A 500-word statement on why you wish to work in the writing centre.

– Updated curriculum vitae.

– Current academic transcript.

– Contact details (email and telephone numbers) of two referees.
