NTC Opens Registration for 2026 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) 1
The National Teaching Council (NTC) has officially opened registration for the 2026 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) 1. This mandatory examination is designed to ensure that qualified teachers meet the National Teachers’ Standards necessary to deliver effective education across Ghana.
Prospective candidates are urged to act swiftly, as the registration window is strictly defined from 16th February to 10th March 2026.

Examination Format
The 2026 GTLE 1 consists of three main papers:
General Professional Knowledge: Including numeracy, literacy, and essential professional skills.
Grade-level Specialism Pedagogy: Tailored to specific specializations such as Early Grade, Primary, JHS, or SHS.

Step 1: The Indexing Process (Fresh Candidates Only)
Before you can even begin your registration, the NTC states that “Fresh candidates shall be indexed before registering for the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination”.
Check Status: Visit indexing.ntc.gov.gh to confirm if your training institution has uploaded your details.
Pay Indexing Fee: If uploaded, pay the GH₵ 50.00 indexing fee via *772*51# on all networks or at any Prudential Bank Ltd branch.
Verify: Log in to the indexing portal using the number received via SMS to verify your details.
Step 2: Payment for Examination Vouchers
Once indexed, or if you are a re-sit candidate, you must purchase your registration voucher.
Select Option: Dial *772*51# and select Option 1 (Teacher Licensure).
Pay the Fee: Ensure you pay the correct amount based on your status:
Fresh Candidates (3 papers): GH₵ 450.00.
Re-sit (1 paper): GH₵ 150.00.
Re-sit (2 papers): GH₵ 210.00.
Re-sit (3 papers): GH₵ 385.00.
Secure Your Voucher: You will receive an e-voucher containing a Serial Number and a PIN.
Step 3: Online Registration on the NTC Portal
The NTC reminds candidates that “A prospective candidate should make payment only when his/her details have been uploaded onto the indexing portal by their training institutions”.
Log in: Go to exams.ntc.gov.gh and enter your Serial Number and PIN.
Upload Photo: Provide a clear passport-sized photograph (less than 250kb) with a white background.
Complete Fields: Fill in all required academic and personal information.
Final Submission: Review your info and click “Submit.” Note: The NTC warns that “NTC will not accept any request for change of photograph after the examination”.

Print Summary: After submitting, print three (3) copies of your summary report.
