Host of 65th Independence Day out Are school children taking part
The 65th independence celebration of Ghana will be held in Cape Coast in the Central Region. The national celebration was launched by the Regional Minister, Justina Marigold Assan. The event which will be held in Cape Coast is a result of the government’s decision to rotate the national celebration across all regions.

In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the celebration has been restructured in the last two editions without the participation of school children.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) is expected to communicate whether schools and school children will participate in the celebration.
The celebration falls on Sunday, March 6, 2022. The government is expected to officially announce Monday 7th March 2022 as a Public Holiday.
The historic day which ended colonial rule and ushered Ghana into self-governance is 6th March 1957 and was under the able leadership of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and the Convention Peoples Party (CCP).
The theme for this year’s independence anniversary is expected to be announced in the coming days along with modalities for the celebration and other national, regional, and district events if any.
Traditionally Ghana’s independence anniversary activities include debates at the Secondary school level, National Awards for Best BECE candidates, a National celebration on 6th March among others.
