Teachers Update: NTC introduces new category in 2022 Ghana Teacher Prize
The National Teaching Council following the upcoming 2022 Ghana Teacher Prize says a new category to acknowledge the critical role of teachers in educational leadership and administration has been added to the award scheme.
To qualify to contest in the category, NTC in a blog post sighted by EducationWeb said one must be a professionally trained teacher currently working at the pre-tertiary education space for at least 5 years and have worked as an administrator.
“A new category has been introduced to acknowledge the critical role of teachers in educational leadership and administration
To qualify for this, one must be a professionally trained teacher currently working at the pre-tertiary education space (both public and private) and might have worked as a leader or an administrator for at least 5 years,” it stated.
The Management of the Teaching Council (NTC) Saturday announced the portal for nominations and applications for the Teacher Prize was opened on Monday, February 7, 2022, but will be closed on Friday, April 29, 2022.
The objective of the Ghana Teacher Prize (GTP), the Council in the blog post indicated is to motivate professional teachers in the country for higher performance and also boost respect for the teaching profession.
“The Prize underscores the importance of the teaching profession and symbolizes the fact that teachers throughout the world deserve to be recognized and celebrated,” the Agency under the Ministry of Education said on Saturday.
