MoE to distribute chocolate drinks to students, MoU signed
The Ministry of Education has signed an MOU with Niche Confectionery Ghana Limited to distribute chocolate drinks to students to students.
Through this MoU, MoE will be provided chocolate drinks/beverages to learners at a few selected public elementary schools in Ghana with the support of Niche Confectionery Ghana Limited.
In a post on his official Facebook page sighted by Ghanaeducation.org, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister for Education said “The nutrition of every child in school remains one of our priorities at the Ministry of Education.”
He expressed his excitement about the signing of the MoU which was signed at a brief ceremony between Niche Confectionery Ghana Limited and the Ministry of Education on Tuesday, 19th April 2022.
According to the Education Minister, “The MOU will allow Niche Confectionery Ghana Limited, to distribute chocolate beverages to primary school children in selected public schools across the country, with preference given to cocoa growing communities.”

He added that “This partnership will help make President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s vision of ensuring that every child has access to a cocoa beverage a reality.”
The new programme if initiated will be an add-on to the government’s free school feeding programme which has been in operation as part of the Free SHS at the secondary school level at the basic schools nationwide. The quest to provide school children in Ghana with a cup of cocoa drink a day has been on the table for some time now. The support from Niche Confectionery Ghana Limited would go a long way to help the MoE achieve its quest to provide chocolate drinks to learners in school.
