Private School/teacher Associations To Open Temporary License Registration Centres

Private school teachers’ temporary licence centres to be opened to facilitate easy access to registration for all teachers employed in private pre-tertiary schools nationwide.

The decision was taken on the 22nd August, 2022, when the  NATIONAL TEACHING COUNCIL (NTC) had stakeholder engagement with various private schools associations in the country.

Key among issues discussed was the registration and training of non-professional teachers as well as exemption for PGDE graduates.

Stakeholders of education present at the engagement underscored the need for teachers to take the licensing regime more seriously and adhere to the 31st December 2022 deadline for enforcement.

All parties agreed to support teachers to meet the requirements. The associations have been mandated to open registration centers to assist in the registration of the Non-professional Teachers to be given Temporary Licence after these teachers have satisfied the agreed standards.

In attendance were officers from the Ghana National Association Of Private Schools – GNAPS, National Council of Private School Teachers (NCOPST), Independent Schools and Teachers Council (ISTEC) and the Ghana National Council Of Private Schools – GNACOPS.

The private schools teacher associations are yet to disclose modalities and registration centres for the exercise.
