The Ghana Education News projects that the ongoing SIM Re-Registration may be extended until 31st Jan. 2023 given the challenges that confront the process.
Today is officially the last day for the re-registration of SIM Cards per the directive issued by the Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful led Ministry for Communications and Digitalization and the NCA.
However, the National Identification Authority (NIA) is still unable to issue Ghana Cards to all legitimate Ghanaians and foreigners at the time of filing this report, it will only be prudent that the decision to deactivate all unregistered SIMs is shelved for at least another four months.
SIM Re-Registration May Be Extended Until 31st Jan. 2023 (Projections & Opinion)
We project that given the suits in court against the decision of the Ministry for Communications and Digitalization, the NCA, and the Attorney General, the government will see the wisdom in the call for an extension.
Until every Ghanaian or 99% of Ghanaians are issued a Ghana Card each, it will be wrong to go ahead with this unpopular decision which, if carried out, can create problems for the country as far as communication, business, and related activities are concerned.
If the wrong deactivation or limiting of registered SIM cards in September was anything to go by, the government must free the move to deactivate SIMs, as it will not be in the best interests of the government and the public.

It is also projected that the Ministry for Communications and Digitalization will issue a press release or organize a conference in the coming hours to update Ghanaians on its next move.
Whatever the final decisions of the Ministry, Ghanaians are waiting anxiously for the update, but will not be excited to hear that SIMs that have not been completely registered have been blocked.
