24 Hours After Sacking Prof. Kwesi Amankwa, Nana Addo pointed a new GES Director in the person of Dr. Eric Nkansah outside the many qualified educationist within the service.
This has got teachers talking. One such post which has gained a lot of traction and reaction on Facebook is this.
“So no one in GES is qualified for the position of director general? Dear teachers and all educational workers in GES, we have no future with GES. I can’t remember the last time an employee of GES was appointed director general of the service.”
“The Director General is a rank under the Ghana education service. It’s just like appointing someone who is not a police officer as IGP.
The education sector will continue to be in shambles. You have appointed someone who has never been a headmaster of an SHS, a district or regional director of education….how will the person work without experience? Shouldn’t the director general be someone who has risen through all the ranks of the service? Oooh poor Ghana.”
The question is if the Director General of Health s always a health practitioner, why can’t the GES have a trained teacher who has gone through the ranks to be appointed as the D-G of the Ghana Education Service?
