Sack Ken Ofori-Atta and Adu Boahen Now; NPP MPs in Parliament Send Strong Message To Akufo Addo

To restore public faith in the economy, NPP MPs have demanded President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo remove Minister of Finance Ken Ofori Atta and Minister of State Adu Boahen.

On Tuesday, October 25, 2022, in Parliament, their spokesman, Asante-Akim North MP Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi, informed the press.

If the president doesn’t comply, the organization won’t do business with the government or support the 2023 budget.

They argue the move is a reaction to government worries that didn’t work.

“We had to defend the Finance Ministry leadership against charges of conflicts of interest, lack of confidence, and lack of trust.

“Our caucus and our constituents are concerned about the current economic upheaval.” “We’ve notified our president that we’re really concerned about him via the leadership of parliament and the party, but we haven’t heard anything back,” said Andy Appiah Kubi.

The MPs think that the move will make the country’s economy better than it is now.

“We want the president to change the Minister of Finance and the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry as soon as possible,” he said. “This will bring hope back to the financial sector and turn around the slowing growth of the economy.”

So far, according to reports, about 80 NPP MPs have signed the petition to fire the Finance Minister.

In Britain, Kwasi Kwarteng was fired as Chancellor of the Exchequer (Minister of Finance) on October 14, 2022, because some of his financial policy decisions caused trouble in the UK market

People say that Mr. Kwarteng’s September 23 announcement about cutting taxes caused panic in the financial markets, which hurt the pound, raised the cost of borrowing for the government, and caused some lenders to pull offers for home purchase loans.
