Our Businesses Will Collapse: MoMo Agents Across The Country In Tears
Mobile Money Agents in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region are upset about a new way of doing business called “direct cash-in” that their network partner, MTN Ghana, is forcing them to use.
The Bosomtwe MoMo Agents Association says that the new rule will allow vendors to stop the usual cash-in process and instead help customers send the money to its final destination after loading their wallets.
The agents said in a press release that the new directive will make it even harder for their members and customers to understand each other.

“They want us to stop cashing in money and instead put money in customers’ wallets.” As agents, we can’t follow what the telecom giant tells us to do, “said Godslove Opoku Mensah, who was one of the leaders.
The group says that when the system is put into place, it will kill the mobile money business.
“We used to make about 40% on cash-out, but now it’s only 36%, and our business is slowly going downhill.” “The direct cash in the plan will make it hard for customers and agents to work together,” Opoku Mensah said.
