CONFIRMED: From Monday, Here Is How Much You Will Pay as Transport Fares

The new transport fares lists are out, and they have many people’s tongues wagging in anticipation of what they will have to pay.

Drivers’ organizations in Ghana, notably the Concerned Drivers Association and the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), have all said that transportation costs would be raised beginning today, Saturday, October 29, 2022.

While the GPRTU declared a 19% rise in transportation rates, the Concerned Drivers Association announced a 30% increase.

According to the unions, the hike was forced by growing gasoline costs, the devaluation of the Ghana Cedi, and the increased cost of leaving the nation.

Despite the fact that the increased prices go into effect today, some drivers began charging them soon after the changes were announced.

The hike in transportation charges did not sit well with many Ghanaians, who are already bearing the brunt of the country’s economic crisis.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is said to have met with the associations to reach an agreement, although it is unclear if the meeting had any impact on the planned hikes.
