Job Vacancy For Transport Officer
We are looking for an experienced Transport Officer to join a reputable herbal medicine manufacturing company. You must be knowledgeable about managing both company’s fleet, as well as drivers.
You will be working with your team members and officers of other departments to ensure the secure movement of people and products.
Responsibilities
• Maintaining an up-to-date database of all the company’s vehicles (Chassis number, Registration number, Roadworthy certificate, Insurance)
• Tracking repairs and costs as part of monitoring and overseeing the repair processes
• Ensuring drivers have the appropriate Class and valid Licences and all vehicles are stored with logbooks.
• Advising on recruitment of new drivers and testing of driver candidates in traffic rules, signage and practical driving.
• Maintaining a register to record the names of Authorized Persons delegated to drive the company vehicles
• Ensuring that vehicles are securely locked at the close of business each day and are parked in a well-lit area Submitting regular and comprehensive monthly reports to the Supervisor on vehicle movements, fuel usage and problems.
• Ensuring vehicles are used per the institution’s policy and that vehicle usage data is correctly recorded.
• Maintaining good working relationships with vehicle repair shops, liaising with them regularly to ensure vehicle repairs are appropriate and done
• Ensuring that all departments and officers who need a vehicle for official duties apply and are approved by your supervisor.
Qualification Required & Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering (Automobile Option) or any related field.
• 2-3 years of progressive and relevant work experience in a similar position is preferable
• Familiarity with GPS Vehicle Tracking System will be an added advantage
• Critical thinking skills Excellent independent judgement and decision-making skills.
• High energy and multi-tasking skills
