Bawumia Is a Man of Integrity – Fati Abubakar Reacts To $200,000 “Appearance Fee” Allegation

In an investigation by renowned investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, former Minister of State at the Finance Ministry Charles Adu Boahen was quoted as saying that Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia needed an appearance fee of about $200,000 from an investor to get his support and help in starting a business in Ghana.

“You mean like fees for appearing and stuff? I mean the Vice President himself. If you want to give him (USD) 200,000 or something as a thank-you token, that’s fine. He’s not really like that, not really. Charles Adu Boahen is said to have said, “All he needs to worry about in 2020 is his campaign money.”

Bawumia Rebuts

But Dr. Bawumia denied this claim and asked for him to be fired.

In a post on Facebook, he said, “Anas Aremeyaw Anas has posted a video on his social media account that shows the Minister of State for Finance, Mr. Charles Adu Boahen, using my name, among other things, to sell influence and get money from supposed investors.” I would like to say that if the video is a true record of what the minister is said to have said, then he should not be a minister of state. He should be fired right away and looked into.

“I don’t know that Minister Adu Boahen held such a meeting or that he had to pay a “appearance fee.” My honesty is the most important thing to me, and I won’t let anyone use my name to do something illegal.”

In response, Deputy Minister of Information Fatimatu Abubakar said on Peace FM’s morning show “Kokrokoo,” “I went through a lot of platforms, and no one believed it. This is because of what he has done in the past and because he is a man of integrity.”
