OSP starts investigating Charles Adu Boahen over Galamsey Economy

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has commenced its investigations of Charles Adu Boahen, former Deputy Finance Minister, who was implicated in the Galamsey Economy investigative piece released by Anas Aremeyaw Anas and Tiger Eye P.I.

“By a letter dated 14th November 2022 and referenced OPS 305 /2 2/1 106, the Secretary to the President upon the directions of the President referred to the office of the Special Prosecutor for further investigations of allegations of corruption leveled against Mr. Charles Adu Boahen, Former Minister of state at the ministry of finance contained in an investigative expose published by tiger API and the investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas titled Galamsey Economy.

“The office of the Special Prosecutor has promptly commenced an investigation into the actions of Mr. Charles Ibrahim and any other implicated percent contained in the investigative Expose Galamsey Economy.”

“Following a publication by Anas Aremeyaw Anas and Tiger Eye P.I. ahead of the premiering of the investigative video, President Akufo Addo terminated the appointment of Mr. Adu Boahen with immediate effect. The accused had made damming comments in the video that an investor could pay $200,000 to the Vice Present, Dr. Bawumia to have access to him among others. The vice president reacted to the alleged statements of Mr. Adu Boahen and called for his sacking and investigations if he actually made such pronouncements in the investigative piece.”

The OSP was established to prevent, investigate & prosecute corruption & corruption-related offences and asset recovery and management functions on behalf of the government and the people of Ghana.
