As the football world continues to talk about the controversial penalty that gave Portugal a 3-2 win over Ghana on Thursday, the best player in Ghana’s history, Asamoah Gyan, has weighed in on the topic.
Mohammed Salisu was called for a foul on Cristiano Ronaldo in the box during the game between Portugal and Ghana at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, even though replays showed that the Ghanaian had touched the ball.
Ronaldo scored a penalty kick to give Portugal the lead, but Ghana fought back hard, and the game ended 3-2.
After the game, Gyan said on SuperSport that he thought the penalty was too soft and that he didn’t understand why the referee checked his decision with the VAR.
