Utrecht Excellence Scholarships for International Students

The Utrecht Excellence Scholarship (UES) provides a number of international students from outside the European Economic Area with the opportunity to pursue a Master’s degree at Utrecht University in various fields.

Scholarship value/inclusions/duration:

The Utrecht Excellence scholarship can be awarded in the form of tuition fees OR tuition fees plus the required income linked to a one-year residence permit for study as determined by the Immigration and Naturalization Service.

The scholarship is valid for the duration of the program.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for a Utrecht Excellence Scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:

• Be a member of the top 10% of your graduating class*
• Lack of an EU/EEA passport and ineligibility for study grants and loans under the Dutch system

• Have completed secondary school and a Bachelor’s degree outside the Netherlands • Have applied to an eligible international master’s program beginning on September 1, 2023

Application instructions:

Non-EU/EEA students can apply for one Utrecht Excellence Scholarship beginning November 1, 2022, after submitting an application (or applications) for a UES-eligible Master’s programme before the deadline. Prospective students who want to be considered for the scholarship must apply by January 31, 2023, 23:59 CET, or the application portal will close.
