UEW Ranked Most Sustainable University In Ghana

University of Education, Winneba has been ranked the most sustainable university in Ghana by GreenMetric World University Rankings for the year 2022. The university also ranked the 986th most sustainable university in the world.
The ranking is broken down into six categories namely;
- Environment and infrastructure
- Energy and climate change
- Waste
- Water
- Transportation
- Eucation
Each of these categories has its own set of weighted indicators.

The IU GreenMetric collects data via an online questionnaire. After all participants have answered some questionnaires over a set period, UI GreenMetric expert members and reviewers validate the answers based on the evidence provided by the participants.
The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings was introduced in 2010 as a nonprofit project by the University of Indonesia. It is released every year as evidence of universities’ commitment to and efforts in support of sustainability around the world.
It focuses on the current condition and policies related to green campuses and sustainability in universities all over the world.
Since its inception, it has become increasingly recognised as the first and only university ranking on sustainability, and participating universities have used it to benchmark and improve their sustainability efforts. The University of Indonesia GreenMetric is modelled after reputable ranking systems, including the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE), the QS World University Rankings, the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), and the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities (Webometrics).
About Green Metric
The UI GreenMetric World University Ranking is a ranking on green campus and environmental sustainability initiated by Universitas Indonesia in 2010. Through 39 indicators in 6 criteria, UI GreenMetric World University Rankings prudently determined the rankings by universities’ environmental commitment and initiatives. The Rankings have seen a dramatic increase of participants from 95 universities in 35 countries in 2010 to 956 universities in 80 countries in 2021.
