Austrian passports are issued to Austrians to facilitate international travel. Austrian passports are now ranked sixth out of all passports.
Every person who lives in Austria is also a member of the EU. The owner of a passport and national identification card has the freedom to reside and travel in all the EEC members’ countries, as well as in Switzerland.
PASSPORT TYPES FOR AUSTRALIA
Passports issued in Austria are categorized according to the circumstances of their processing. According to this classification, Austrian passports may be divided into three categories:
Regular Passport

Emergency Passport
The Embassy will issue you an emergency passport if required so you may go to Austria. Emergency-issued passports are valid for around six months. Along with your ID, you must provide the Embassy with evidence of citizenship.
PERIOD OF PASSPORT VALIDATION
Every Austrian passport has the same amount of remaining validity. The maximum term for candidates who are at least 18 years old is 10 years, while the maximum period for candidates who are under 18 years old is 5 years.
PASSPORT ELIGIBILITY CRITERION FOR AUSTRIA
You immediately acquire Austrian citizenship if your father or mother is an Austrian citizen. Whether or whether you were born abroad, obtaining citizenship is equivalent if one of your parents being a citizen.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR THE PASSPORT APPLICATION PROCESS
