The Ghana Education Service (GES) releases new 2023 School Selection Details covering school selection Dates, Processes and Activities to be carried out.
This was contained in a Press Release sighted by your reliable education news portal, Ghanaeducation.org. According to the GES, the postponed school selection phase of the 2023 Computerised School Selection And Placement System (CSSPS) – 2023 School Selection Training and Placement Sensitization Exercise has been scheduled for Monday, 11th September 2023 to Friday 22nd September 2023
This information came along with the 2023 School Selection Training and Placement Sensitization Exercise Schedule. Officers from GES Headquarters, CSSPS, and Free SHS Secretariat will be in all the various regions to conduct the training exercise.
The GES’s press release dated 1st September 2023 failed to disclose the date for the selection of schools which is of interest ot students and parents. In our earlier publication on this, parents, schools, and candidates were informed of the change in school selection processes.
Additional information regarding this New 2023 School Selection Details available to this portal is that BECE candidates will choose up to 11 schools during the school selection phase.
Per our sources, the GES is updating the current school selection form, and the number of schools to be selected among others.
The new form will consist of two sections aimed at making the selection of second-cycle schools understandable and not complicated.
The new Free SHS selection form will have two sections, as follows.
- The 1st placement school selection form
- The 2nd placement school selection form
What is the 1st placement school selection form?
The 1st placement school selection form looks almost like the current one in use. The candidates will be required to select or choose 6 schools they will want to be considered for during placement.

What is the 2nd placement school selection form?
This is a second form that aims at dealing with self-placement issues. Candidates will be required to select up to five more schools, which will be entered on the 2nd placement school selection form.
If this new system is used, candidates will select 11 schools instead of 6 in 2023.
