The Ghana Education Service Has GES Released A Newly Revised 2023 School Selection And Placement Video. This video is expected to help parents, students, schools, and other stakeholders understand the new school placement and school selection system introduced.
Per the new categorization of schools, there are 86 Category A schools, 259 Schools in Category B, and 573 in Category C schools. The catchment area schools are captured in Category D. All the Category D schools are Day schools that can actually be found in one of the A, B, or C categories.
Candidates are to choose 6 schools based on the CSSPS 2023 1st PLACEMENT SCHOOL SELECTION FORM AND GUIDELINES and another 5 schools based on the CSSPS 2023 2nd PLACEMENT SCHOOL SELECTION FORM AND GUIDELINES

Candidates, parents, and schools can now download the school selection form which contains forms 1 and 2 for the selection of 11 Pubic Senior High Schools.

Parents and guidance are to ensure that they fully understand the school selection process and also choose schools based on the academic strength of their candidates and not based on mere taste and preference.

Note that it is never compulsory to choose a Category A school as your ward’s first choice. Schools in category A are only in the group by the fact that the schools have good facilities and not because they are the best at the WASSCE. There are excellent schools in category B that parents should consider as their ward’s first choice.
