20-Year-Old Graduate,Gertrude Gives Free Lessons to Displaced Children
On the matter of the Akosombo Dam Spillage, there has been over a 10,000 displaced people as a result of the spillage. Meet Gertrude, a 20-year-old graduate student from Akatsi Secondary Technical School, who is generous enough and offering free lessons to children among the displaced.
Gertrude, the 20-year-old graduate, is offering free lessons to all children who were displaced as a result of the Dam Spillage in the Volta Region.
She is offering free lessons to the school children who were displaced in the North Tongu District. This is truly an act of dedication and generosity.
Currently, the St. Kizito Camp is the residing grounds of all the displaced citizens as a result of the Dam Spillage, which then resulted in a devastating flood. As a result of the spillage, numerous school children have had their educational life disrupted.
The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and some educational experts, GNAT, among others have urged the government to reshuffle the calendar in order to benefit the displaced school children.
Upon the recognition of the importance of education and how it plays a vital role in our lives today, the 20-year-old graduate, Gertrude, took upon herself to teach these displaced school children for free.
The video, spotted by Ghanaeducation.org that was shared by Joy News, had the memorable moment where Gertrude was teaching these children the parts of the human body.

Per reports, the 20-year-old graduate spends more than 6 hours to teach these kids every day. Gertrude also disclosed that, it was her motivation to help these displaced children continue their education regardless of the current predicament.

She added that, because these school children are not in the same classes, she tries to teach all of them something general.
Upon the spillage of the Akosombo Dam by the Volta River Authority (VRA), about 26,000 citizens in 9 districts have been displaced.
Moreover, the Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum assured these displaced communities that, the government is doing everything in their power to bring education back to these affected school children.
