Goaso Paramount Chief Backs Mahama’s 24-Hour Economy Plan Amidst Political Dispute

In a noteworthy development, Nana Kwasi Bosomprah, the Goaso Paramount Chief has thrown his support behind the 24-hour economy policy proposed by former President John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). This endorsement comes amidst a political tussle with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia dismissing the idea.

During a meeting with Mahama and NDC members at the Goaso Paramount Chief palace, Nana Bosomprah expressed optimism that the 24-hour economy policy, if implemented, would foster business growth and create additional employment opportunities. He emphasized that the policy would ensure Ghanaians have access to essential services at all hours of the day.

The Goaso Paramount Chief shared a personal experience where he had to assist stranded travelers late at night due to a vehicle breakdown. He cited this incident as an example of how a 24-hour economy could benefit society by providing round-the-clock services and assistance.

Nana Bosomprah addressed critics of Mahama’s proposal, stating, “Those saying they don’t get it, this is not about going to the university. I have just used my vulcanizer.”

Former President Mahama’s 24-hour economy plan, outlined in the People’s Manifesto, aims to encourage businesses to operate continuously, creating a conducive environment for economic growth. The policy includes incentives and tax breaks for manufacturers running extra shifts, intending to generate more employment opportunities, particularly for the youth.

In contrast to The Goaso Paramount Chief, Vice President Bawumia, the flagbearer for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), criticized Mahama’s proposal during a campaign event in Nalerigu. Bawumia argued that the idea was not new to Ghana, listing examples of hospitals, power and fuel service providers, and some eateries already operating around the clock. He asserted that Mahama did not understand his own policy and declared his vision for a new transformative policy in 2024.

As the political discourse intensifies, the clash of ideas between Mahama and Bawumia on the 24-hour economy proposal adds a layer of complexity to the upcoming political landscape, with citizens left to weigh the merits of each vision for the nation’s future.
