Ghana Black Stars Is Now Like “Frefre Korbor”: Build a new team, retire all old players

Just watching Ghana play against Namibia and Cape Verde between January 5 and 14 shows that, indeed, the Ghana Black Stars are now like the Frefre Korbor team.

Yes, the once glamorous Ghana Black Stars are now like Frefre Korbor. There is nothing good this team can offer. In the end, taxpayer money is going to be wasted. Our highest achievement in the ongoing 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast will be round two. We cannot go past that stage.

The Ghana Black Stars showed us exactly what they were made up of when they played their last friendly match with Namibia before the 2023 AFCON.

Our defence is very porous, and the compartment and telepathy between the back four are like sea sand mixed with pebbles. Our midfield is as weak as a thread woven with wind, and the less said about our forward and striking potency, the better. Where is this Yeboah guy wearing number 7 for the Black Stars from? He was the biggest liability of the day; his call-up was wrong, and his contribution to the end game was far behind zero on the number line between negative 11 and negative 10.

Ghana must forget any intentions of winning the African Cup of Nations for another 20 years or so and also forget about qualifying for the next FIFA World Cup.

Losing to Cape Verde in the first match of the 2023 AFCON gave Ghana a convincing weakness in the Ghana Black Stars. You do not need to be a footballer, a football pundit, or a coach to tell that the team playing has no character, has no game plan, and is like a flock of sheep without direction.

It is time to draw the curtains on another generation of the Ghana Black Stars. Come to think of it, if most of the regular Black Star players are not on the team and those still playing have to start on the bench, it simply means they are out of steam and should not be in the Black Stars.

The likes of Amertey, Dede Ayew, and all the old players need not be on the team. They have come to the end of the road as Black Stars players, and they need to be told it is time to hang their boots as far as the Black Stars are concerned.

Going forward, Ghana needs a new technical team. Chris Houston has proven beyond reasonable doubt that he is not the kind of coach Ghana needs now. The longer we keep Chris Houston on the job, the worse the performance the Black Stars will deliver.

Build a new team, retire all the old players, or stop going to competitions. Ghana’s fans are tired of seeing the once glorious and feared Black Stars playing like a “Division 4 team”

Now, Ghanaians do not feel like watching the Black Stars any more. We should end the AFCON 2023 campaign with a maximum of 2 points any thing beyond 3 points will be our biggest achievement at the group stage.
